Privacy

There is no account, no server of ours, and nothing about you for us to keep.

The short version

Castmorphic Subtitles runs entirely on your computer. It has no account, no sign-in and no telemetry, and there is no server of ours behind it. We hold no personal data about anyone who uses it, because none ever reaches us. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

What the app talks to

Two things, both directly from your machine, and we are not in the middle of either.

• YouTube, to read the list of subtitle tracks for the URL you paste and to fetch the one you pick. Your computer makes that request, so YouTube sees it in the ordinary way any visit to YouTube is seen. The video itself is never requested.
• The release server, to ask whether a newer version of the app exists and to fetch it if you press Update. That check sends nothing about you beyond what any download does.

What stays on your machine

The subtitle files you save, in the folder you choose, and a copy of yt-dlp the app keeps current in its own data folder. That is the whole list. Nothing is uploaded anywhere and nothing is shared with us.

This website

These pages are static files with no forms and no tracking. They are served by GitHub Pages, which, like any web host, sees the network address of each request in order to answer it. We have no access to those records and take no copy of them. The apps menu in the top right loads from a Lightmorphic address and stores nothing on your device.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. In this case the honest answer to the first question is "none", but the right stands and you are welcome to test it. Write to [email protected].

If you are not satisfied with the answer, the Information Commissioner's Office takes complaints at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the foot of the page changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, because we do not have your address.
